THE COMPANY

Not known to many, Radhe Engineering Co. is the core company of the Radhe Group of Companies located at RAJKOT Gujarat India. The group’s main line of activity is, research, development, manufacturing and marketing of non-conventional & renewable energy equipment, i.e. BRIQUETTING PLANTS and BIOMASS GASIFIERS. The principals of the firm have been active in the field for over a decade.

INITIAL DEVELOPMENTS

Prior to venturing in the field of Research, Development and Manufacturing BRIQUETTING PLANTS, CEO Dr. S.V. MAKADIA, owned and operated a BRIQUETTING plant for almost five years. From the practical experience of the production snags and the never ending mechanical difficulties, the principals of the company were inspired to develop a state of the art machinery, which was not only cost efficient but also profitable technically and financially. Presently, in terms of quality and efficiency the company has no match in line.

During the initial years, the company developed the SUPER-60 Model, which had less production capacity and required a Hammer Mill/ Sizing machine for the raw material, and in comparison to the obsolete SCREW TYPE SYSTEM, we introduced the DIE PUNCH SYSTEM. Due to the high consumption of power, and overall maintenance also being high, the company developed the flagship Models JUMBO-90, which revolutionized the BRIQUETTING INDUSTRY, since the plants could be operated profitably mainly because of snag free production, low consumption of power, reduced by almost 40 percent whereas the labor and maintenance costs were reduced by 50 percent.

To date, the company manufactures and offers a world class BRIQUETTING MACHINE. The company also provides on site training for operating the plants, and continued follow ups till the plant can be run self sufficient and confidently. The entire staff of the company is made up of a group of renowned professionals from different streams, which provides the cutting edge for the success of the company, in such short span.

Looking at the success of the 2 models in operation, the company decided on looking forward to expanding its products and services abroad and started presentation of the Technology to underdeveloped & developing countries to contribute further in the conservation of natural resources and utilize agricultural waste to convert into non conventional energy.

JUMBO-90 does not require a Grinding Mill. Because waste residuals of 1-25 mm can be fed into the machine directly without grinding.

Inspired by the success of BRIQUETTING PLANTS, and potential prospects to develop in the relative field, the company in JUNE 2001 diversified its activities towards Development & Manufacturing of BIOMASS GASIFIER.

Result:
Birth of a new enterprise named Radhe Renewable Energy Development Pvt. Ltd. [RREDA].

Within a span of two year the company became the emerging leader in the field; supported with a decade old practice the company has established; a Unique Procedure for Manufacturing which involves, sourcing of the finest material components for specific functions, undertaking various metal processes at different stages of production and fully equipped workshop with state of the art equipment.

RREDA was incorporation was with a view to diversify the activities of the organization in the field of Renewable & Non-Conventional Energy Sources. The company took shape after relentless research and development in the field of GASIFICATION. After thorough study and research of various technical aspects, the results derived were optimum solutions for each problem faced globally.

Currently, the company is engaged in the development and manufacturing of two types of Gasifier systems. The UPDRAFT GASIFIER system is very efficient and universally accepted specifically for thermal applications, since it replaces liquid fuel in equipments like kiln, spray dryers, boilers etc. and accepts a variety of solid fuel like steam coal, wood, charcoal and bio-coal and Briquettes. The DOWNDRAFT GASIFIER system is generally utilized for diesel engine, application for the purpose of shaft power or power generation application. The gas produced in this equipment contains less tar since it undergoes rigorous conditioning process to produce ultra fine gas. Therefore, producer gas can be practically viable in operation of decentralized independent power, producer or industrial captive generating set. The replacement of liquid fuels would be in the range of 65-80%, because the fuel input would consist of only woody biomass or briquette, which is abundantly available in rural areas.

Our recent development is Fluidized Bed Gasifier / Furnace System, which have unbelievable positive characteristics against conventional Gasifier System.

Our company’s R&D department is always keep-in-mind the Clients requirement and revolutionary changes in the technology, which is more beneficial to our clients and Environment friendly. RREDA has recently develop the new technology i.e. Fluidized Bed Gasifier / Furnace for Spray Dryer, which is more efficient, more economically viable and fully PLC based programmable Control Automatic System with precise temperature control up to ± 2 ºC and you can utilized various agriculture waste like groundnut shell, various husk and coal dust

ACHIEVEMENTS

In less than 3 years, 75+ GASIFIER have been installed with capacity of 500Kwth to 3MWth and 7.5MWth.

The result: was progressive preservation of conventional liquid fuel resources, cash savings plus over and above contributing to a better environment.

In joint and collaborative effort with SPRERI [Sardar Patel Renewable Energy Research Institute] located at Vallabh Vidyanagar the company has also developed an Open Core Stratified Downdraft Gasifier”, with 13,00,000 Kcal/per hour Capacity.

Today RREDA is the first and foremost company in INDIA, which enjoys the credit of developing and manufacturing of Gasifier Plants, which run on renewable fuel i.e. BIOMASS BRIQUETTES or WHITE COAL. Now, the company is in a position to offer different size and types of Gasifiers suitable for various applications with maximum efficiency and acceptable by global quality standards. Interaction and communication with foreign companies engaged in similar activities is also in the progress, which finally will result in sharing of technology for mutual interests. RREDA is a member in good standing of APCTT [Asia Pacific Center for Transfer of Technology] New Delhi. The organization is affiliated with the UNITED NATIONS ENVIRONMENT AGENCIES.

Considered to be the pride of India, the company has been extended an invitation by the AMERICAN CENTER, New Delhi in joint efforts with USAID to participate in the RENEWABLE ENERGY TRADE MISSION taking place at DENVER, COLORADO and SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA, USA. This mission is aimed at exchanging and sharing our indigenous technology and know-how with US based firms

:: Down-Draft Gasifier for SMALL POWER GENERATION
 

To increase the capacity of UPDRAFT GASIFIERS for installation in ROLLING MILLS & CERAMIC INDUSTRIES. Our mission is to substitute replacement of 1 million liters of liquid fuel per day.

This will be made possible since these Gasifiers would operate on BIOMASS fuel, replacing liquid fuel and save foreign exchange in huge amounts, plus develop an industry for employment generation. Small industries would benefit substantially since the consumption of electricity would be eliminated and would be able to obtain continuous power supply without snags. Production cost would be reduced significantly thereby reducing cost of product and boosting exports.

Hydraulic Based Briquetting Machines
 

Production cost of this equipment will be much lower than the present Ram & Piston type design BRIQUETTING MACHINES. Cost of finished product would be reduced drastically since there will be a HYDRAULIC CYLINDER & POWER PACK. The overall size of the equipment will also be reduced thereby requiring less space. The machine would function on Power Pack which requires less power, therefore reducing the production cost. In the present equipments since they are mechanical they require significant maintenance, whereas in the intended technology this would be reduced. Manufacturing of existing equipment takes a longer period in comparison to the Hydraulic Based equipment. Maintenance and repair of existing machines is time consuming since not all parts are universal and easily accessible. Also, the parts are heavy. Manufacturing cost of the machine will decrease due to the above factors and will help mass production.

This would help the farmers generate extra income from selling the waste, which at present is either burnt or remains unutilized, thereby promoting the use of BIOMASS based fuel and at the same time helping create a better environment and save precious fossil fuels.

By replacing 1,80,000 liters per day liquid fuel cost of Rs. 25,20,000 per day we have contributed towards savings of valuable foreign exchange to the tune of Rs. 78,62,40,000 per year.

Employment Generation
 

With more than 60+ Gasifiers installed, employment for more than 600 individuals has been generated. Further, to supply the Raw Material at various levels employment has been created. i.e. Traders, Transporters, Labor, Un-skilled workers etc.

Due to the growing demand for BIOMASS fuel, where each BRIQUETTING PLANT requires a minimum of 10-12 workers. Plus, in the rural areas where an abundant supply of PURPLIS JULIA FLORA is available, harvesting of the same has increased since this is also a viable and acceptable fuel for GASIFIERS.

Overall employment generation has increased to roughly 12,000 workers in the raw material supply chain.

Earning of Foreign Exchange
 

Due to the Gasifier system, which has been installed in the CERAMIC industries, the Cost of Production has reduced by almost half in comparison with liquid fuel consumption. This has provided a potential leverage to increase the exports of their products and match global prices with a quality product.

Environmental Benefits
 

Briquettes are manufactured with BINDERLESS TECHNOLOGY meaning there are no additives or binders in the production process. This eliminates any toxic waste or hazardous pollution generation. Previously, all agricultural waste was burned or disposed in non-acceptable manners which contributed to pollution.

By installing 55+ Briquetting Machines valuable foreign exchange has been saved since 1 MT of BRIQUETTES replaces 500 liters of liquid fuel consumed by various industries in Boilers, Kilns, and Heating Drying Applications.

Due to the growing demand of Liquid Fuels, the rates of the fuels are rising day-by-day and the shortage of Liquid Fuels World wide. By the Installation of our Up-draft Gasifier Plant in various industries, the cost of production has reduced by almost half in comparison with liquid fuel consumption. This has provided a potential leverage to increase the exports of their products and match global prices with a quality product and Import of Liquid Fuels of the country, which saves the heavy foreign exchange.

Environmental Benefits
 

Gasification is a world wide “Environment Friendly” technology. Gasification Technology eliminates any toxic waste or hazardous pollution generation. Previously, Liquid Fuels/LPG was burned, which is mostly in non-acceptable manners which contributed to pollution.
